With "Casse-noisette", Blanca Li reimagines Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet in a resolutely contemporary version.
The choreographer transposes the world of the fairy tale into an urban aesthetic where hip-hop, cultural fusion and the energy of contemporary dance meet the power of the original score.
Performed by eight dancers, the show draws on Hispanic influences as well as the New York, Caribbean and Californian roots of the hip-hop movement. A free and inventive reinterpretation of this great classic, which retains all the magic of the original whilst breathing new life into it.
