For the first time, the story of this vibrant music is told in all its richness, influences and global impact. A production for Outre-mer la 1ère, France Télévisions' public network, which brings together nine television channels and nine local radio stations broadcasting in the French overseas territories.
The request
Outre-mer la 1ère wanted to offer a podcast on zouk to trace its history, origins and cultural influence. The aim was to highlight its leading artists and the importance of zouk in overseas societies, in order to value and make accessible the musical wealth of overseas territories.
Our response
We directed and produced a series of twenty podcasts with Bertrand Dicale, journalist at franceinfo.
