In this new children's podcast produced by Radio France Studios in collaboration with BRGM, rocks write to Professor Caillou, a passionate geologist, to confide in her their fears, doubts, and sometimes... loneliness.
The BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières)is France's leading public institution in the Earth sciences, dedicated to managing the resources and risks of the soil and subsoil.
The request
The BRGM wanted to develop a project aimed at making scientific culture, particularly on sustainable development and the environment, accessible to all, especially the young public. The aim of this initiative was to inform children and their parents about environmental issues in a fun and educational way, by pooling technical and editorial resources to facilitate understanding of current ecological challenges.
Our response
Radio France Studios collaborated with BRGM to create a youth podcast aimed at 7-11 year olds. The six-episode series features geological elements, such as pebbles and minerals, writing to Professor Caillou, a passionate BRGM geologist, to confide their concerns, such as the fear of disappearing or loneliness. Accompanied by her assistant Abel, she replies with humor and pedagogy, helping young listeners to understand Earth sciences while having fun.
This podcast is also integrated into Radio France's youth offering, on the website and app, helping to make scientific culture accessible to young audiences and their families.
